Why Do I Do What I Do?---Joy^~^

Why Do We Do What We Do

so,why not just enjoy our life, enjoy this moment, and do everything that we want to do~we like to do.
(Although what I'm doing now isn't what I want to do, I know if I keep going, I can do what I want to do in the future. )

WHY DO I DO WHAT I DO

when I saw the United Nations Headquarters from another side, I was extremly shocked and felt surprisingly about its side-profile. it is really like an IPHONE when you watch it from the side, isn`t it?!

Be honest to others

I saw this news in Harvard campus again, and I felt very sad for their broken love.
Rob has falen in love with Kristen for three years, and he was planning to propose.
But now he is destroyed.
Good wishes to them.
Maybe sometimes, we have some problems with our friends, however I hope we  can trust and be honest to others.

    Mandarin duck and Human

This was a beautiful moment that I took the picture when a mandarin duck swam under a man's feet.
The man and I just sat down the bank and enjoy the scenery ,but the mandarin ducks also swam around the surface of the sea.
It's showing the harmony between the human and the nature exactly.

    THE NEW TYPE OF FOOD

indeed, western food is great. it also has a extraordinarily disparity from eastern food, they are totally different. one of the most interesting experiences that I have gone through, is to taste the western food. the "new food" which gave me the impacts most, is the "pasta". I should acknowledge, for truth, that I haven`t eaten this kind of foods before. when I first saw it, I was amazed for its shape and to bet on myself that this food will not be delicious anymore. to my surprise, the food is great. the smell is infiltrating into pasta, when you eat it, you can feel that you are eating a large ornate dinner which includes lots of gourmet food. I have never imagine that wheaten can be cooked in such a unique way. I was shocked by pasta. there is no doubt that pasta is a kind of extremely excellent foods around the world.

    The birder
This is a guy with his pigeons in Washington Square Park.
Everyday,I can see him talking to the pigeons and feed them.
When he call someone's name, the pigeon will come to him.
I like this picture because I see the communication between people and the nature.
In China, I definitely won't see this because the pigeons there are all afraid of people.
But in this park, I can close to the pigeons and they won't fly away maybe
because they trust in people,or I won't take a nice picture like this.

    Experience in New York

    Experience in New York

    Andrew

In these 10 days, we have visited a lot of famous places such as SOHO, Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and so on, but the most exciting thing for me is just laying on a grass land. You will wonder why it is the most special experience for me and you will figure it out later.

This Tuesday, we went to the Lincoln Center and Columbia University. In the Lincoln center, we found a large area of grassland leaning on the building, it is amazing because the grass is growing regularly against the slope and I have never seen such a large grassland, even a complete grassland is rarely seen in China. Unsurprisingly, everyone was exciting when seeing the unexpected grassland and ran very fast to catch the land. I followed them to reach the grassland and laid on it. It was incredibly soft and comfortable, just like a pair of gentle hands are giving you a slight massage to make you get rid of the tired feeling. I looked upward, a huge shinning sun rested against a bar of cloud, and the fluffy cloud covered almost all the sky, the white and the blue mixed together to paint a extremely harmonious picture that I have no chance to see in China. During the ten minutes, I just laid on the grassland comfortably, enjoyed the sunshine and basked in the fresh smell of the grass. I see that other guys were also enjoying the afternoon time on the grassland, some guys even rolled on the soft grass, we laughed, we took photos, we relieved ourselves.

Maybe only the nature can make us more energized, more comfortable and more free to do the thing that we really want to chase. To tell the truth, this was my time to lie on the grassland and this was my first time to forget the pressure that the community brings me. This feeling is much more valuable than the shock of the Empire State Building that gave me. You know Beijing has a lot of significant building too,but I never get the chance to really enjoy the real nature and feel the way that nature brings me which is fearless, light hearted. I have enjoyed it in New York.

    A better life

I took the picture on the way back to NYC.Comparing to China, the sky is much brighter, and the air is also fresher. In China and in Beijing, the pollution is too serious, it makes me hard to breathe  and it always makes me be in a bad mood. From my point of view, a good living enviroment helps me to grow and having a better condition. It helps me to build a more efficient study. Therefore, it's a good choice to have my college life in such a nice country.  And after these days in NYU, I really fall in love with this university. The ways that NYU students live, the communication with our three teachers, and the visiting of NYC. Everything here attracts me deeply. I will try my best to get into this wonderful school to enjoy a perfect college life in the future.

    Tai Ji in NY

This picture was taken when I enjoyed my second day in NY. It was in Washington Square Park, several American guys were playing Tai Ji, a kind of tradional Chinese exercise. Firstly I became very surprise when I saw this, because I could hardly believe that even local Americans
play this. But anyway, I was so delighted to see Chinese culture has such a big influence on another country!

    A UNIQUE SCULPTURE

this sculpture is in the Columbia Law School.  it`s extremly unique , for you can see different images from different angles.  what`s more,  what I`ve seen is a man fights against with a pegasus.

    Natural Beauty

    Took by Jean
This picture was taken travelling from New York to New Jersey. That day was really sunny and warm. The sky is really beautiful and elegant. The scene which consists of a stretch of clouds and several clusters of clouds with the light-blue sky makes me relaxed, and I have never seen such an azure blue sky in Beijing. It is amazing also striking.

having new experience in New York_Daniel

On July 25th, 2012, we went to the south street seaport. Just when we left the subway, the teacher took us to the American Gemini and they really shocked me, although they are destroyed by the terrorists in the past and it’s being repaired now. The heights of the buildings are nearly 120 floors. I couldn’t imagine how amazing it is if people stand on it. Then we passed through the crowd, and came to the three bridges in Manhattan that cannot be forgotten, they were the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan Bridge, and the Williamsburg Bridge. The three bridges and the water and the beautiful views around it make up a unique feature of Manhattan. The mayor of the New York spent 5 million dollars to build a water fall under the bridges, He asserted that this air waterfall will bring 2 million visitors and 20 million of revenues to New York. But when the waterfall was completed, people found that the waterfall was too small. I don’t know whether the program was win or lost money, but I think it must be lost. Then we went shopping in the shopping center next to the bridges, buy small souvenirs and clothes. Then we go back with immense fatigue and satisfaction.

    Amazing Nature Science Museum——Adam

This is a story of my travel of museum. Last year, when I went to England, I visited British Museum, I was rearly confused cause it was too big and every thing were mixed together, and the map here is realy to hard for me to find direction. In addition, the headphone is realy hot that you can not ever imagine that you have such a big things and walk from here to there, so when I first heard we would see museum, I realy did not interested in it. However, things in America are totally different, When I first went in it, there is realy out of my imagine. Firstly we went to see Ice age Animal, in the hall, we saw a huge elephant modal and it was vivid and interesting. Then we go into this and there are many bones of dinosaurs, I was surprised because it was really a colossus, also I saw many bones of animal that I have not seen before. Then we went to saw the biggest sapphire, it was really beautiful. I was really happy with the travel.
This is the bones of Dinosaurs

    United States Capitol------Amber

    July 28, 2012
We went to Washington DC on July 28,2012, everyone was pretty happy. These photos I took United States Capitol, there was so many people, because they were protesting, demonstrating and proposing.  Among lots of people,  there was someone speaking.
. The theme of this activity was about saving water.
This was my first time to meet the protest and I think that it is so serious, it is not a joke, it concern to government..

    American experience- Tony

I had a excellent impression of USA, because of the fruit:

As we were coming back to New York, all of the students had lunch in the Maryland, this time we need to have the Chinese buffet again. In fact, the main course here is not as good as what in China, but at here the fruits are extremely excellent. One of the reasons is the sunshine here is very powerful, it is just like Xinjiang in China. I like the cherry here most; it has a fascinating sweet, with plenty of juice. This is why probably I would like to come to US. Oh, and also seafood! I also have a wonderful impression of it.
    (Picked from my learner's diary)

When I first do the preview-Tony

This is what I have seen on the website, about the statue of liberty. Very romantic, isn't it? This gave me the interest to visit the statue.

Mr.Jia is as tall as Thomas Jefferson—Adam

We visited Jefferson Memorial on July 28th. When we visited this statue, we asked Mr.Jia to take a photo with statue of Jefferson. He said he want us to take a photo that he can as tall as Jefferson, so we try this way so that we can make Mr.Jia a little taller than Jefferson.

    the Empire State Building-----hyouko

Thursday, July 26. In the afternoon we visited the Empire State Building (ESB). We were informed of zero visibility up on the observation deck on top of ESB because of the bad weather before we started ascending. However, now we are here. We looked into the distance and, sure enough, everything was in haziness. Water land sighed with emotion: It would be regret if we would not have climbed to the top, but even if we had climbed to the top it remained regret!

The teacher told us, ESB was named after Empire State, a nickname of New York State. It is located at
    350 Fifth Avenue
(between 33rd and 34th Streets) in New York City and was constructed on the site of the former Astoria Hotel. The construction started on March 17, 1930. Cornerstone was laid on September 17, 1930 by former New York governor Alfred E. Smith. The construction took just over 18 months and was completed about a month and half ahead of schedule and about $5 million under budget. President Herbert Hoover officially opened the building on May 1, 1931 by pressing a button from the White House that turned on the building's lights.

As there were a lot of people at the top, we did not stay a long time. When we left ESB, it was getting dark and still rainy. We walk slowly to the campus. How substantial one day!

    the Statue of Liberty

Today was my first time to visit the statue of liberty and Ellis Island since I’ve never been to the USA before. It was cool as the breezes kissing our cheeks softly though the sunlight was a little bit too bright near the sea.
After waiting in a long queue, it was finally our turn to get on the boat and begin our trip to visit the statue of liberty. We stood in the front of the boat excitedly to get the view and as the statue came closer, the feeling got stronger. The island actually is not big and the stairs in the statue was closed, so we took a few pictures and went inside the souvenir shop. The shop was far more crowded than the island and the air conditioning wasn’t working well but there are so many great little gifts that caught my eyes. However, the ones that I liked were all made in China. At last, I only bought a maple syrup in a bottle that has a shape of the statue of liberty.

Our next stop was Ellis Island, which has a museum about the time that people first started to come to America. Since we didn’t have much time left, we just took some photos and got back onto the boat.
This was indeed memorable and spectacular. I hope I can get another chance to visit there in the future.
