the Statue of Liberty

Today was my first time to visit the statue of liberty and Ellis Island since I’ve never been to the USA before. It was cool as the breezes kissing our cheeks softly though the sunlight was a little bit too bright near the sea.
After waiting in a long queue, it was finally our turn to get on the boat and begin our trip to visit the statue of liberty. We stood in the front of the boat excitedly to get the view and as the statue came closer, the feeling got stronger. The island actually is not big and the stairs in the statue was closed, so we took a few pictures and went inside the souvenir shop. The shop was far more crowded than the island and the air conditioning wasn’t working well but there are so many great little gifts that caught my eyes. However, the ones that I liked were all made in China. At last, I only bought a maple syrup in a bottle that has a shape of the statue of liberty.

Our next stop was Ellis Island, which has a museum about the time that people first started to come to America. Since we didn’t have much time left, we just took some photos and got back onto the boat.
This was indeed memorable and spectacular. I hope I can get another chance to visit there in the future.

  1. That's funny that all the souvenirs were made in China. Not much of a memento, then, right? Hope you like the maple syrup and that next time you come back the stairs will be open. I've heard you can get a great view.
